Henry Betzinger was born in Wurttenburg, Germany and came to America in 1849 at the age of 15. He became a master blacksmith and carriage maker in the village of Fort Plain. His business was located on Main Street. Henry Betzinger was married to Juliette Holt Betzinger and they had 4 children: Harry, Helen, Daniel and Blanche. The Betzinger monument in the cemetery is a most unusual one as it was originally constructed of glass mosaic tiles.
